How to Update your Acaia Product's Firmware

For updating the original Pearl, Please use the Pearl Updater; you can find it here on the App Store or Google Play Store. 

For updating any of our other products, Please use the Acaia Updater; you can find it here on the App Store or Google Play Store. 

Before starting the firmware update, we recommend checking the following: 

1. Review your Acaia product’s manual. There is a dedicated section about how to update firmware.
2. Ensure your Acaia device and connecting phone have a battery charge of at least 50%.
3. During the update, do not connect your Acaia device to a power source or plug in the charging cable.

 

How To Update

1. Connect your scale via Bluetooth. 
2. Check the Firmware version
3. Select the firmware you'd like to update to
4. Switch to Update Mode (see tips below)
5. "Start Firmware Update” on the app

Each section of this article refers to each of our main scales or bean dosers. Please scroll down to find any relevant information for your Acaia product.

 

Pearl (Original)

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Pearl.

Switching to Update Mode on the Pearl:

• On original Pearl models with firmware 1.83 and newer, connect your scale to the Pearl Updater app, then tap the "Switch to update mode" button that appears once the scale is connected. The Pearl will then display "F.u. 2". Once you see this, Long-press T to enable Update Mode.
• If your scale has a firmware older than 1.83, you will need to manually put your scale in update mode. 
• While your scale is off, hold the Power Button until it shows “nACAIA” -> “SEt”, and then hold the T button at the same time. 
• Hold both buttons until you hear a beep and the display shows F.0000. Release buttons.
• Enter the appropriate passcode for the version of your scale. Short-press T to change digits, long-press T to move to the next digit.
• For firmware 1.3 and older, input 1249; for firmware 1.5 and newer, input 0415
• The scale will display UPdAtE (for firmware 1.3 and older, the scale will display "ISP" when it is in update mode.)

Below is a video on how to put a Pearl Black Original in update mode using a settings code. The steps are the same for an Acaia Lunar:

 

Pearl 2021

There are currently no firmware updates for the Pearl 2021.

There is no need to switch to Update Mode on this scale as it should switch automatically when connected with the Updater app. 

If you can not switch it automatically, you can manually enter Update mode by performing a soft reset or holding the power button while plugging in the scale.

During the update process, the data transfer indicator on the bottom left will flash. 

 

* Note: If you want to leave update mode, please connect the scale’s USB to a power source. The scale will power off automatically if the update process does not begin shortly.

 

Why does the Pearl Updater not connect with my Pearl 2021?

The Pearl Updater only connects with our original Pearl scale. The Pearl 2021 connects with the Acaia Updater scale, like the rest of our scales and bean dosers. 

 

Pearl Model S

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Pearl Model S.

There is no need to switch to Update Mode on this scale as it should switch automatically when connected with the Updater app. 

If you can not switch it automatically, you can manually enter Update mode by performing a soft reset or holding the power button while plugging in the scale.

During the update process, the orange LED will blink until the process is complete. 

Note: If you want to leave update mode, please connect the scale’s USB to a power source.

Lunar

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Lunar.

On newer firmware (2.5.068 and later), there is no need to switch to Update Mode on this scale as it should switch automatically when connected with the Updater app. 

If you can not switch it automatically, you can manually enter Update mode by performing a soft reset or holding the power button while plugging in the scale.

 

Note: If you want to leave update mode, please connect the scale’s USB to a power source.

 

Switching to Update Mode on the Lunar on older Firmware

• On Lunar firmware versions 2.5.067 and below, the Lunar always needs to be manually put in update mode. 
• While your scale is off, hold the Power Button until it shows “nACAIA” -> “SEt”, and then hold the T button at the same time. 
• Hold both buttons until you hear a beep and the display shows F.0000. Release both buttons.
• Enter the passcode 0415. Short-press T to change digits, long-press T to move to the next digit.
• The scale will display UPdAtE.
• On Lunar firmware versions 2.6.003 and later, the way to enter a passcode is slightly different. 
• While your scale is off, hold the Power Button until it shows “nACAIA” -> “SEt”. Now release the power button and long-press the T button. The display will show F.0000.
• Enter the passcode 0415. Short-press T to change digits, long-press T to move to the next digit.
• The scale will display UPdAtE.

 

*NOTE: Be sure to not unplug or plug in the scale while it is updating, as it will cause it to crash*

 

 

Lunar 2021

Here is the latest firmware version for the Lunar 2021.

There is no need to switch to Update Mode on this scale as it should switch automatically when connected with the Updater app. 

If you can not switch it automatically, you can manually enter Update mode by performing a soft reset or holding the power button while plugging in the scale.

During the update process, the data transfer indicator on the bottom left will flash.

Pyxis/Cinco

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Pyxis and Cinco.

There is no need to switch to Update Mode on this scale as it should switch automatically when connected with the Updater app. 

If you can not switch it automatically, you can manually enter Update mode by performing a soft reset or holding the power button while plugging in the scale.

 

Orion/Orion Mini Bean Doser 

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Orion.

There is no need to switch to Update Mode on the Orion as it should switch automatically when connected with the Acaia Updater app. 

If you can not switch it automatically, you can manually enter Update mode by long-pressing the top of the Orion screen when the doser is powered off.

 

Orbit Grinder

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Orbit.

To enter the Orbit firmware update mode, press and hold the Orbit button in the front while turning on the Orbit with the main power switch. 


Hold for about 15 seconds and release the Orbit button when the button turns from Green to Red. Once released, the Orbit will enter firmware update mode. 

 

Ion Beam

(AIM101 / AIM102 / AIM103)

Here are the latest firmware updates for the Ion Beam.

To enter the Ion Beam firmware update mode, press the power switch for 10 seconds until the status light displays. Continue holding for another 10 seconds until the status light begins to flash. Once the Ion Beam is connected to the Updater App, the light will stop flashing.

 

Click 'Update' on the Updater App to start the firmware update. The light will flash during the update process.
