How to Clean Your Acaia Products

We’ve created a quick guide to let you know the best way to clean your Acaia scales, dosers, and accessories. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our support team at support@acaia.co or message us on any of our social media.

Scales

• Before cleaning, make sure your scale is not plugged in and is turned off. 
• Use a damp towel moistened with water only. We recommend a microfiber cloth or any textile that does not leave lint. We do not recommend using paper kitchen towels, dry or wet.
• If there is tougher residue such as hardened syrup on the scale, use a damp towel as stated above. Use a mixture of water and a cleaning liquid intended for use on items with a screen or display.
• Never spray cleaner directly on the scale. 
• Wipe gently. Excessive wiping or putting pressure on the scale while cleaning may cause damage.
• Avoid using aerosol sprays, bleaches, 100% alcohol cleaning products, or abrasives. These liquids can damage the scale.
• Do not place the scale under a running water/faucet or submerge it in liquid! While scales such as our Lunar are water-resistant, they are not waterproof. Read more about it here.
• If you have exposed your scale to a large amount of water, place it in a cool, dry place. We recommend 24 hours if you submerged the scale. This will let it dry completely. Do not place the scale on top of a hot object to dry like an espresso machine or dishwasher.
• Over time, debris such as coffee fines can collect inside of the scale but this should not affect its performance. If you suspect coffee buildup is becoming an issue, please contact our team. Email us at support@acaia.co for more information.

Orion

• Before cleaning: unplug your Orion. 
• Loose beans: purge using the dosing function or use a soft bristle brush on the inside of the Orion chamber. 
• Hopper: carefully remove the hopper from the Bean Doser. Clean it with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive fabric or sponge. Make sure the hopper is completely dry before reattaching to the Orion.
• Body: dampen a non-abrasive cloth and wipe it down. Do not spray aerosols directly onto it.
• Avoid putting pressure on the load cell (the platform) while cleaning.

Acaia Accessories 

Dosing Cups

• Use a damp towel moistened with water or water mixed with a cleaning product for product surfaces. 
• We recommend a microfiber cloth or any textile that does not leave lint. Avoid using aerosol sprays, bleaches, 100% alcohol cleaning products, or abrasives.

Lunar Weighing Plate

• Use a damp towel moistened with water only. We recommend a microfiber cloth or any textile that does not leave lint.  Avoid using aerosol sprays, bleaches, 100% alcohol cleaning products, or abrasives.

Heat Resistant Pads

• Clean with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive fabric or sponge.

Brew Stands 

• Clean with warm soapy water and a non-abrasive fabric or sponge.

Carrying Case

• Wipe down the inside and outside with a dry/damp non-abrasive towel or sponge. Avoid getting the carrying case too wet.
