Will a standard espresso portafilter fit on the Pearl 2021?
A portafilter will definitely fit. ‘Chopped” or ‘naked’ portafilters fit best with the aerial heat pad in its normal position. Spouted portafilters can be used with the aerial pad flipped to provide a rest for the portafilter, as shown below.

Where has the auto-tare function gone?
The auto tare mode has been upgraded to combine with the portafilter mode. The portafilter mode has an option— port-reset to set the timeout time in settings. If you set the port reset to off, It will always reset the tare value immediately like the original auto tare mode. If you set it to 30/60 it will reset the tare after 30/60 seconds to allow you to put back the portafilter for weighing only the adjusted coffee.
What is the difference of the LED compared to the original?
There are 2 more digits (7 segmented LEDs + . ) and more indicator LEDs to display flowrate on the screen.
How many modes are on the Pearl 2021?
There are 5 separate modes on the Pearl 2021. The modes are Weighing Only, Dual Display. Pour Over Auto Start, Portafilter, and Beverage.
Where has the espresso mode gone?
Due to the addition of more LEDs, you can now see a more accurate reading of grams and ounces on the Pearl 2021 scale. Due to the limitations of the display, the dual-display mode of the previous version of the scale would show up to an accuracy of 1 gram. The display of the Pearl 2021 can show up to an accuracy of 0.1 grams in dual display and there is no need for the previous separate espresso mode.
I have heard about the flow rate indicator. Which modes can I use it with?
The Flow-Rate Indicator is a separate symbol on the scale and will show the rate of your water pour when brewing. This is a helpful and educational tool when brewing. The indicator is present in Dual Display mode, pour-over auto-timer start mode, and beverage mode. You can turn the flow rate indicator off in the settings menu if you don’t need wish to see it.
