How do you treat the dosing cups to be anti-static?

To stop static, you have to ensure electricity never has a chance to build up. Static electricity can build up in coffee grounds from a number of actions, mainly from using a grinder. To alleviate this static, our stainless steel cups are treated with a sandblast spray to give them anti-static properties.

The ceramic coating of the 53 mm cups also naturally possesses anti-static properties.

What dosing cup will fit with my portafilter?

58 mm is the traditional and standard size of most commercial portafilter baskets and 53 mm is a very common size among most home espresso machines, so we have designed cups suited to both of these standards.
However, not all portafilters are designed to tradition, such as the unique Dalla Corte 54 mm portafilters, so we recommend checking the manufacturer’s specifications before purchasing a dosing cup for your machine.

What dosing cup will fit my grinder?

Coffee grinders really do come in many different shapes and sizes. For instance, all of our dosing cups suit the Mahlkonig EK 43 models due to their design.

Based on if we say a cup will fit a grinder, we factor in the kenetic energy of the grinder, moveable or removable forks, and if it needs a platform. While some of our dosing cups may fit with grinders measurement wise, the height difference between where the grinds are distributed and the cup may be quite wide and lead to a lot of coffee spillage. We would highly recommend contacting us directly (support@acaia.co) to ask about your grinder and what cup from our collection may suit it.

Will you make ceramic-coated 58 mm cups?

We have no plans at this time, but this has been a highly popular request that we have passed on to our sales team!
